The French junior professor « chair » is a novel recruitment process that provides access to a civil service position as a « Professeur d’Université ». After a pre-tenure period of 3 to 6 years and following an assessment, the successful candidate can obtain full tenure at Université Côte d’Azur after approval by a tenure committee. This Junior Professor Chair project is part of the Artificial Intelligence theme which has become a structuring theme for the Université Côte d’Azur and its ecosystem since 2019.
The person recruited will strengthen the relatively limited teaching forces specialized in Machine Learning and Deep Learning within the University.
Concerning research, he/she will have the skills to provide answers to the questions related to Frugal AI (robustness and validity of decisions, or the computational resources required to build decision models), for example in statistical learning or in economical hardware architectures for neural networks. The person recruited will thus be able to contribute his or her expertise at several levels: in his or her theoretical contributions, by contributing to synergies with the other research themes of the I3S and LEAT laboratories, and by promoting the opening up of these themes to the entire UCA community, whether academic or industrial.
The eBRAIN group from the EDGE team at LEAT laboratory is interested in bio-inspired computing and neural network architectures for embedded systems. It aims at making AI more efficient, reducing its energy consumption and usable in real-time systems at lower cost.
